The Volvo Ocean race starts in Alicante, Spain on 5th of November 2011 and ends in Galway Ireland during early July 2012, the seven participating yachts will sail over 39 000 nautical miles of the world’s most treacherous seas. Stopping over in Cape Town on the first leg of this tough race they will be greeted by a unique yacht christened ‘Speed of Yellow’ by the Official Logistics Partner of the Volvo Ocean Race, DHL. Officially launched by the Mayor of Cape Town and DHL Western Province players at a function at the V&A Waterfront the yacht will serve as a platform to bring the Volvo Ocean race closer to South African’s by giving sailing experiences to previously disadvantaged children and members of the public.
